Classic Dub Clips: Revisit The ‘Peacemaker Kurogane’ Anime TV Series

The complete twenty-four episode run got more attention in the last couple of years with a new trilogy of films as well. Check out the clips below from the series that takes us back to the 2003 period when it first aired.

Based on the six volume manga by Nanae Chrono that ran from 1999 to 2001, Peacemaker is a twenty-four episode series animated by Gonzo that aired in 2003 and 2004. It was directed by Tomohiro Hirata with scripts and composition from Nahoko Hasegawa and character designs by Akemi Hayashi. It was originally released by ADV Films on DVD and was later picked up by FUNimation for release. The English language adaptation was directed by Don Rush and stars Mike MacRae, Vic Mignogna, Luci Christian, Braden Hunt, Chris Patton, Kira vincent-Davis, Jason Douglas, Kevin Corn, John Swasey, Greg Ayres, Rob Mungle and Monica rial.

Plot concept: After the horrific murder of his parents, young Tetsu embarks on a quest for vengeance that threatens to consume his soul. His journey leads him to the inner sanctum of the Shinsengumi, a prestigious order of swordsmen at war with the very villains who cut down his mother and father.

Tetsu’s samurai training gives him the strength to seek revenge, but it also opens his eyes to a painful truth: his new allies are responsible for just as much bloodshed as his sworn enemies. Armed with this knowledge, Tetsu must make the most difficult choice of his life. Will he draw his sword and yield to his demonic urges – or follow in the footsteps of his father and become a true peacemaker?
